Brown - little reach
JHU - match
Upenn - (why?) reach
Duke - little reach

The rest i’d say youre in

I am applying to Upenn because I think it has a good engineering department as one of my colleague is doing his undergrads there. Do you think I have way too many matches and safeties or I have a good balance of all?

anyone else? bump…

Reaches, all of them. As in JHU UPenn Brown & Co.

But otherwise. You’re in :]

Do you think I have way too many matches and safeties or I have a good balance of all? Should I try for more reaches?

I think you’d apply to a good number of colleges.
If I had to say something, though, it’s a bit much.
But better more than less right?
If you have the time to write the essays and apps, go for it.
If not, then eliminate some.
