Hi there! I was accepted as a Literature major in the College of Creative Studies for this fall. I'm not entirely sure I'll be attending, but it's looking more and more like it every day now! I haven't seen much CCS action on this forum, so I thought I'd make this so us CCS admits can get to know one another and discuss our opinions on the college. :)

forever alone

I got in, and I will be attending.

If you are unsure, I suggest you go visit. The CCS will set up an individualized visit for you. You will have a student or two showing you around campus, and you will meet with professors and sit in on classes.

I visited last year, and I have no doubts about going there. I have looked at all the English/Lit/Creative Writing programs in California and some of the Ivy League programs, and none of them match the CCS for what I want to do as an undergraduate.

Yay! I went to UCSB’s admit day, which included a panel with CCS professors/students. I’m planning on driving back up this week (I’m on Spring Break) to sit in on some classes, too. Do you know if you’ll be staying in the CCS Pendola House dorm? That seems like the best option for me, since the CCS students are more my type than the majority of SB’s.

I hope to stay in Pendola for the same reason.

Hey, I’m probably going to CCS too (sent my app late and waiting for a response).
Do you guys have FB? PM me.

Nice! What’s your major? I feel like someone should make a separate fb group for CCS admits at some point in time.

Hey guys, Im going for a pre-med track. Would CCS help me much? I had no clue what it was so im not in it right now, but should i bother applying for it while im at UCSB or just stick to college of L&S.

I’m not the best source on this, but here’s my two cents. CCS could help you, but I think it depends more on what you’re looking for in an undergrad education. CCS is designed to be a very focused academic environment, with smaller classes and more freedom to take the classes you want. I know they have a pretty good biology major, so you’d probably end up there. CCS is also very research-oriented, if that’s something you’re looking for. One thing that I think could set you apart when it comes to applying to med school is the letters of recommendation. You’ll develop very close relationships with your professors in CCS, which can only benefit your letters when the time comes.

I chose CCS (bio) over a pretty prestigious school since I like the flexibility & focus of the program. But I did hear that it may be hard to meet pre-med requirements with the felixbility of CCS. Is anyone starting up that fb page? Haha I’d totally join it!

The (slightly small) party is over here!
