prospective cmu student

<p>Hello, I am going to be a junior in high school and am wondering how I can improve my chances at getting into cmu. I appreciate any tid bit of help offered. </p>

<p>White Female, CA
Private Catholic High School</p>

<p>SAT: have not yet taken. I predict about 2200. </p>

<p>GPA: 3.5 weighted</p>

<p>10 APs (2 are self study) and some Honors.
I also am taking/have completed about 8 cc courses.</p>

<p>ECs:
newpaper: 4 years: news editor & editor in chief, received the Writers Award 4 years in a row
Girl Scouts: 13 years: Silver & Gold Award
Volunteer at Science Museum: 4 years: 200 hours
Volunteer with metally disabled children: 4 years: 200 hours
President of school club: 4 years</p>

<p>Work Experience:
I MAY have an internship next summer at Scripps Institute in neuroscience.</p>

<p>Prospective major: neuroscience or psychology</p>

<p>3.5 weighted is relatively low but you are applying to HSS so you shouldn't be that bad off. Anyways, so um... get as high as you can on the SAT and the Subject Tests to increase your chances. Perhaps AP Pyschology (if they have it) and ace it and write your essay about how much you love figuring out how people think and blah blah blah. Good test scores will help a lot, good luck.</p>
