thanks Hoo_29, that give me a sigh of relief.
Now I gotta work on that scholarship application cries
so much to do this thanksgiving holiday

By the way Hoo, I didn't see your question on the first page.

I heard it from my counselors and IB coordinator, and the website also claims that early action is based solely on the numbers. ECs and other activities aren't really considered (from what I understand). This doesn't mean you won't get in regular decision, but I know from our school no one got in EA with a score under a 1280 last year. This doesn't mean if one is deferred he or she won't get in RD. There's a great chance one will probably get in RD, as all things are considered rather than just numbers. This happened for many people last year.

Good luck to all of you, and if any of you are deferred then no worries, I'm sure you'll get in RD. The wait is the worst part though.

Maybe you are right, but I am in the top 5% of my class, and I have a 28 ACT. I just think I should get in. My friend got in EA last year with an 1160, so I know at least some people get in with bad scores first round.

Hey guys im a Junior at a top 3 public high school in Georgia and I am applying to UGA next year. So far my stats are around a 3.8 GPA weighted, 32 on the old ACT.

I have taken AP world as a sophmore with a 5 on the exam and a 690 SAT II.

My schedule this year is:

AP Bio
AP Europe
AP Lang
AP US
Adv/Alg Trig
Spanish 4 honors

with all weighted A's and unweighted 3 B's in the AP's and 3 A's

next year I have 5 AP classes too.

Assuming I get the equivalent of a 1300-1450 on the new SAT what do you think my chances are?

I also was on the policy Debate team for 2 years(lettered), the basketball team for a year, started a club which has been in the AJC among other things, and am currently an attorney on Mock Trial as well. Plus I have a job and a lot of manager/teacher/coach recs.

I also have legacy at UGA my sister is there for Undergrad now and my mother got a graduate degree at the school.

What do you think my chances are if i test well? If my test scores are mediocre?(1300 sat)(high 600's, low 700's sat II's)

You'll get in-probably into the honors program.

ryan - they dont care about your SAT IIS.. you are in. uga is pretty easy with good stats.

UGA interests me for a number of reasons. Its been getting better academically lately, and thats the most important thing. But I also can basically go to school free because i have scholarship money from two things, hope being one of them, that means i would only end up having to pay like 300 dollars even with room and board, and I think that I can find another scholarship to cover that. Plus my guidance counselor says that as long as I continue to test well I could enter in as a second semester sophmore. However, im still worried about admission. Im not sure who my competition will be and that bothers me. Im applying to private schools up north, and I actually feel more comfortable with getting into those. I would apply to tech if they had my major :(.

plus im only i think top 15 percent in my class. Mainly because my school is all asian haha.

Ryan-From what I've seen and heard, UGA is more concerned with your GPA, but I'm not an adcom, so I don't know. But honestly, you will get in. Worst case scenario you will be deferred, then accepted. Just relax. You are sitting way better than most people applying. Btw, I'm interested in knowing which hs you go to. Are you from ATL? Or do you go to Lakeside? Just wondering=)

uh, you are in. in in in in in.

LOL ranisparkle! Good luck on your FF application!

thanks! its the only thing thats gonna keep me at UGA! hahaha

I go to Chattahoochee High School in North Fulton county.

Anyone feel like guessing my chance of getting in RD? Here are my stats:

3.5 GPA (at the end of this semester)
1380 SAT (730 V, 650 M)
SAT IIs: 740 Literature, 690 Writing, 590 US History
I have taken every honors course available and have taken 3 APs

Some ECs:

Hispanic Heritage Month Essay Contest - 1st Place (won scholarship)
FBLA - came in 6th place at Georgia Conference in VB Prog. last year
Environmental Club - Vice President
Beta Club
Drama Club - involved with several productions on tech crew
Gordon College Academic Bowl - Humanities Team

Both of my sisters went to UGA for undergrad, and my brother went there for law school. I don't know if that'll help or not.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

"I go to Chattahoochee High School in North Fulton county."
