Class rank(32/300)
*I think it's gonna be top ten percentile in the midyear report
The class rank is relatively low because I the course loads were limited because of ESL in freshman year (we use weighted GPA)

I'd say my essays for Cornell(common app + supplement) are superb since I have been working on them about 4 months ago.

My major hook is that I took ESLs in 9th grade because that's when I came to the States, and I'm taking AP classes now as a senior..
Secondly I have the biggest improvement(ranking wise) in school.. -> maybe getting a scholarship for this
Passion for singing and engineering is shown in my essays.

Weakness
Meager sports
ECs are too diverse; only the internship at an engineering company shows my focus on engineering major.

How much chance do you think I have of getting into Cornell Engineering??

Pretty good, I’d say.

How can you take Calc BC without taking Calc AB?

Stats wise you’re certainly in the competitive range.

In our school, you go from trig honors(EMA) to AB if you’re not recommended to take BC.

so I guess I reallyyyy have to work on my essays?

I’ve been working on Cornell’s essays for 4 months now without even starting the essays for other colleges… :(

Any other insightful thought? :0…

i’m a prospective eng from jersey too. what school do you go to?

Calc BC encompasses everything that Calc AB teaches. AB = rough equivalent of 1 semester of college calc, BC = rouch equivalent of 2 semesters.

bump…
Can anyone give me more insightful advices?

essays shouldn’t take 4 months. you’re trying too hard

different schools do it differentially, you can easily cover everything in BC while starting from the beginning of calculus in a year if you go at a fast pace for a high school class. Also they cover a lot of the same material so not really sure why would need two full years to cover both of them.

At my school we had an advanced precalc track that lead to BC Calc that covered basic calculus at the end of the year so next year we could start not at the very beginning, no one took AB and then BC actually, that simply wasn’t how our sequence worked, 1/2 to 2/3 of the year would be repeat material.

Although I do wonder how you can take calc without precalc.

EMA is a combined math course for Trig/Pre-calc
Also, the math teacher for BC is a very good teacher; everyone but one in her class got 5 last year.

Do you think I have chances of getting into Cornell? I mean strong chances?
and at this point, what should I do to increase my chances besides writing good essays and doing well in school?
