Prospective Fall 2015 Transfers

And while 2 years MAY get me the academic credits/meet the distribution requirements for a degree, 2 years will not satisfy the residency requirement, because the first year at MHC does not count towards the minimum of four (as someone in Admissions told me- going to clarify with registrar tomorrow).

Here is what scares me: https://www.mtholyoke.edu/sfs/transfer

Scroll down to the part where it talks about how many semesters you get FA if you transfer. I have over 60 eligible credits that COULD transfer with me to MoHo, and if I brought all of them with me, I would go to MHC for one year without FA (because of the whole 3 year residency requirement thing). We can’t afford one year with no FA, so I am going to see what I can do to be there for 3 years WITH aid…

Hi stitch
Yes, I did read that section you linked, I understand about the credits. My question is whether you are understanding the residency policy correctly. From my read on the section I linked above, it appears you only need 2 years and I see no mention of the first year not counting that you reference. I would DEFINITELY clarify that today when you speak to them, because that may be a misunderstanding. Let us know what you find out and GOOD LUCK! I know you’ve worked very hard for this and been wishing for it for a long time.

Yes it does.

The residency requirement is not three years. It’s two years/four semesters. It’s not unusual for students to transfer to MH as rising juniors and graduate in two years,

Hi I applied as an international transfer for sophomore and sent all documents to MHC in mid-April. Today when I logged in into my portal, all the checklists disappear, but there is no decision. And when I logged on to FA, they require new documents: MHC global loan application or something and loan closure. Both documents are required for fund. Is this a good sign? Although I have already given up all hope of being admitted because I need aids and applied very late, it’s giving me hope

Ugh, I don’t wanna read too much into it but still…

loan disclosure not closure*

I got in. But probably not going, got so little FA from them.
