Prospective GA Doc... Help

Hi,
I have a dilemma and I would be really grateful if anyone could help me out...

Basically, i live in Georgia and I want to attend the Honors program at UGA. Do you know anything about UGA Honors and/or Med school acceptance rates? I would be fine going to MCG (now Georgia Health Sciences University). Worst case scenario, If I don't get into Honors, then I guess I would just go to regular UGA. This is what I'm really worried about: UGA is a state school with a partying reputation. If I keep a 4.0 gpa and get a "good" MCAT score as a regular UGA student, do I have a decent chance of getting into a med school like MCG? UGA is MCG's largest feeder school. However, UGA isn't exactly Duke quality for a pre med, if you know what I mean.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Medical schools do expect a strong GPA and a good MCAT. They will also expect excellent LORs, and a well written and thoughtful personal statement about why you want to be a doctor. Additionally, med school expect a record of community service, and of medical volunteerism and physician shadowing. Med schools will expect that you will have held positions of leadership, that you’ve done some lab research and that you are an interesting and all around well-round individual.

If you can do all that, then you should be fine when it’s time to apply to medical schools.

Students from all kinds of undergraduate colleges and universities are successful at getting accepted to medical school. Going to UGA will not diminish your chances.

Ok. Thank you for the useful advice. Anyone else?
