prospective majors

How much does your choice of major affect admissions decisions? (as long as you are not trying to be a bio major at johns hopkins or a business major at u penn)
im more along the lines of chemistry vs. enviro science
doesthis matter if they are both w/in arts and sciences??

It varies from school to school. Some universities like Berkeley accept you directly into a certain major, while others (most) accept you into one of the colleges (A&S, Engineering etc). Some universities that accept you into the college have seperate admissions processes for special programs or majors (like BME at Hopkins, the Jerome Fisher program at UPenn etc). At most schools, your major choice on your application won't have much of any impact (if any) on admissions, especially since chem. and enviro. science are both normally in the same college.

I'm planning on doubling in business and theater, but at most of my schools I'm applying for theater because it's a LOT harder to get in for business. (exceptions of course are places like CMU, Cincinatti, NYU, etc. but i dont want a BFA so i'm not applying to most of those types of drama schools).

But even still, I don't think it matters THAT much.

what about just within a certain college (lfor example Arts and Sciences)
