So by the time i transfer in Fall 2012 I will have completed IGETC and prereqs. SC requires you to take 2 lower division politics courses before you declare the major and before you take upper division courses. I have completed all my IGETC and they accept one CC poli course to apply to the lower division requirements.

My question: Will i only be allowed to take one lower division Politics course for Fall '12? If this is the case it seems like a waste of room and board etc.

Those types of requirements (must finish all lower-division classes before taking upper-division) usually only apply to students who are already at UCSC, not transfers. Most likely, you can take that 1 lower-division class while taking several upper-division courses at the same time.

I’m a Business Management Econ major at UCSC, (transferring this Fall), and I’m missing 2 lower-division classes. I’m taking 1 in the Fall quarter + 2 upper-division classes, and then taking the 2nd one in Winter quarter + another 2 upper-division classes.

Still, double-check with a counselor or department head.
