That’s good new Emanbouras, good luck to all !
Did any of you submit the Smith Trust page through IDOC. It didn’t apply to me so I didn’t upload it. I didn’t receive my financial aid package either but its on bannerweb…coinfused and really worried
Does anyone know if Smith will send admitted students a shirt? I know early writes did but I would love one too and was hoping that RD admits will get one too <3
@skittlesandwich, if they do send them out… it’ll probably be a few weeks after you send in your nonrefundable admission deposit. Is anyone going to open campus/discovery weekend?
When (and where) do we submit our admission deposit?
@TiredQuibbler: login here http://www.smith.edu/admission/admit/ and then click “admitted students site.” You’ll then find a link to the enrollment deposit website on the lower righthand corner of the page. Also, congrats on your acceptance! I was following your posts and I hoped you’d get in!
@123wombat Thank you so much! I see the link that says “Submit Enrollment Decision” and I already submitted my confirmation to attend, but where do I pay the nonrefundable deposit?
@TiredQuibbler - That link should take you to a form that allows you to submit a payment, at least it did in my case.
@123wombat Oh, mine just asked me to submit a statement that I would be attending and then it send me a confirmation email. I’ll call them tomorrow about it.
How long would it take for financial aid to be determined if I just turned in something late this morning?
Not sure belugastar, D faxed her info to them yesterday just before 4 and called shortly thereafter to confirm but apparently the finaid office closed at 4, rather than 5? I emailed them on her behalf to day to ask for confirmation that the data was received and asked for a probable date to receive a package but no one responded…that was around noon. I think I’ll be picking up the phone and calling tomorrow.
Frustrating when college choices are so heavily influenced by money…
does anyone know if during the open campus and discovery weekend if my parents and i would be able to speak one on one with a financial aid officer? i was not considering going to this because i toured the school in june and since i was the only prospective student there at the time, my parents and i were able to have a personal information session and tour with a senior associate director of admissions and current students.
ems124 You need to make appointments with financial aid directly. That said, former students have told me that Smith sticks rather strictly to their initial awards unless there is very compelling and well documented evidence that they should reconsider.
@excanuck99 thanks for letting me know, i just received my reward and they gave me $0 of aid and suggest i take out a federal loan. there is no way that my parents can afford to send me to smith and they’ve even spoken to their financial advisor and the only thing they can do is take out money from their retirement savings which my parents are not willing to do. im hoping that maybe i can attend smith as a transfer in two years since it would be more affordable for my parents to pay for 2 years instead of 4.
Still no aid here, getting the run-around. We bent over backwards to get another copy of the Ws to them Tuesday and followed up the next morning asking for confirmation. I heard nothing back so called yesterday. They had to look back through emails that had not been processed yet to find ours (three days later??) and then said it would take about two weeks after they processed the attached W2s. A few hours later they emailed D to say they still didn’t have the required information so we begin again on Monday morning…I asked D if she wanted to shelve Smith but she doesn’t so I’m now leaving it to her and Bio Dad to get it straightened out.
Anyone headed to the admitted students overnight on the 16th? D will attend if the finaid works out (or if we haven’t heard back just in case). Sounds like a great way to get an idea of “fit”.
No aid here either, NEPatsGirl. They keep sending postcards (“Smith is great! You’ll love it!”) and having students email, etc., but the one thing we need to approach a decision is missing. I’m annoyed. This is the only school we don’t have an aid package from. THE ONLY ONE. They are a little insane with the vast number of red tapey forms they want.
Oh wow, you too huh? Same with us, out of 19 schools. D doesn’t want to miss two days of school to do the visit if its not affordable. I just want a decision already lol.
Still no aid here either!!
We received an “estimated” form, but yes through IDOC special forms that really did not apply. Anyone else have student trying to decide between Smith, Mt. Holyoke and Hampshire? Social Justice/Theater major?
