@evelynne1996 @Bliss12 Cool! My case is the same as @Zealous184 haha @Red29soxfan15 Cool! Haha wow. I love Smith really. I visited it for the first time back in 2009 when my sister was attending it and I instantly fell in love with it. I was in 7th grade back then haha. After that, every year or so I’d visit her and she graduated in 2011 and it was just amazing. Everything about Smith! I knew right then that I wanted to attend Smith. And I agree! The anxiety is really killing me too!

I’m definitely applying. Smith is my number 1 choice. I’m kind of an A- student and I’m not sure I’ll get in, so I really want to apply ED2 but financial aid is going to be a big deciding factor for me. I know they do meet 100% of financial aid. Has anyone used the financial aid estimator? Can anyone give me some insight on whether applying ED is a good idea?

@gracierachel I think it totally depends on where you stand financially. Ask your parents for a range of comfort in how much they can spend and then run your numbers through the NPC (which is probably accurate within a few thousand dollars). Apply for as many outside scholarships as you can because Smith will let you use them to cover the loan and EFC portions of the package.

You cannot use outside aid/scholarships to lower the EFC unless the outside aid is greater than the Smith grant award, federal and workstudy loans, etc.

@CrewDad Oh, that’s interesting. When I read that on the website, I didn’t consider the difference between self-help and EFC. Do you know if students can take out loans to cover the EFC costs?

@lovebutt96 That’s great! Good luck to you @gracierachel Ohh. how re your EC’s and stuff? Don’t worry oo much. Hopefully you get in too. Financial Aid is a deciding factor for me too but I haven’t checked any estimators or anything. @TiredQuibbler I do agree with what they said, ask your parents and stuff. I didn’t know about what @CrewDad pointed out either but that’s interesting.

@Red29soxfan15 Haha omg, longer wait for you! I applied on the 14th xD Fingers crossed for all of us! @lovebutt96 mhm! @gracierachel I see. Financial aid is a crucial factor for me as well but lets see how everything turns out. I talked to my GC about this and he said that if all went well and I got accepted but with mediocre financial aid, then he would email them and we could try to figure something out. Lets see how tings go. ><

Hi everyone, does anyone know if first term senior grades/midyear report are used for Early Decision 1? On the website under required materials for ED1 it says NA for the midyear report but my school sent mine through the Common App recently so I was wondering if they look at them and use them in the admissions decision.

@h10322 if you recently sent your grades through common app for ED 1, then I’m not sure but I thought that the common app form you fill in and send them (the one they download) is the one they use? Maybe you can check on bannerweb. They mention all the material that they receive, on your bannerweb account. Im sorry but I don’t know much regarding this.
My school works on semesters and my midterm results came out a few days before ed 1 deadline and since my grades had improved, GC sent it with my 11th grade finals (2nd sem) result. BannerWeb would probably be the best way to check (?) Or someone else on here can help you :)

Gave my SAT 2 today. Hopefully, I won’t need to submit the score anywhere and I get a congratulatory note from Smith. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst >.<

@h10322 - my D had the same question and was told by Admissions that “We know many of our ED applicants will not have first available senior grades. Should you be admitted, we would definitely want to receive them.” I have to assume they would ask d’s gc for the grades if they needed them.

I wonder if Dec. 15 is the date - or if they will perhaps post on the Friday?? (the 12th)

Hello everybody!
my friend applied ed to another school and she said that her application status went from “submitted” to “downloaded” within a few days. This got me really worried because the decision is going to be in about a week from now and my status is still only “submitted.” Has any of your applications been “downloaded” ???

@ClubAcres Yeah, I’m just a little worried that if they do use the midyear report in the ED1 decision process that they won’t admit me because my counselor sent it and there are a few B’s on it due to AP classes compared to almost all A’s last year. Fingers crossed
