Prospective Student Considering SMU

I am a junior in high school and it's about time for me to decide on where I want to go to college. I have been considering SMU along with various other universities. Can anyone tell me about the university? Quality of Life? Professors? Why they chose SMU? Is the campus friendly? Are the dorms nice?

Also, how is there policy debate team?
PS-Interested in politics. Here are some other colleges I considered as well
Amherst
Baylor
Pomona
Bowdoin
WUSTL
Emory
Wake Forest
to lazy to do the rest

If you have the oppportunity, you should visit the university. We took DS and DD here on Monday and were very impressed with the entire visit. They have general and school specific tours.

SMU has an awesome campus, and really friendly students. I’ve visited there once, twice by the end of this month, and it’s without a doubt my top choice school - above Vanderbilt, Tulsa, and Tulane. Also, SMU has Dallas, and will get you more internships and job opportunities than any other Magnolia League (smart southern universities) college. And besides, Dallas is an awesome city. You have a lot of good choices, but I say SMU is the best, even though it’s not as highly ranked as WashU, Vandy, or Wake Forest. Of course, I’m biased, but take my advice and visit the university. You won’t be dissapointed.

My son was accepted to SMU. He was prompted to apply there because my wife and I thought it would be a great school for him. We are in California and he has negative perception of the school primarily because it’s in Texas (Weather / humidity) and concern about the perception of mostly wealthy people attending. Anyone from California who attended who could share their experiences or have thoughts on a Cali kid attending SMU? We want to plan a trip and visit which might help him. By the way he has been accepted to Seattle University, Denver University, Chico and San Jose State and is waiting on UC Davis, San Diego and Santa Barbara.

I am in California and LOVED SMU. It is a great school. Great weather - you miss the bad months in Texas (June, July and August) There is a lot of money there, but there is a lot of money at Stanford or USC
