Prospective Student parties

tsk tsk boys.....I guess some things never change. :-)

MWFN, I love the Smithie squirrels! Not the rabid ones of course, but all of the rest. I leave food on our steps so that they'll all want to hang out at our house. They're so cute, though not as friendly as NW squirrels for some reason -- different breed I guess.

Laurel, despite my nightmares, I like squirrels, too - well, as long as they aren't destroying something. They are extremely intelligent animals.

We had an exchange student from Japan several summers ago, and she could not get enough of the squirrels. Before her visit, we tended to take the presence of squirrels for granted, but her obvious excitement reminded us that squirrels don't live everywhere.

Yikes! Yikes!

Muppet creator, Jim Henson, was a bit sick too. Watch the Swedish Chef-Squirrel Stew YouTube video.

I'm going to the one in Berkeley on Sunday, I'm excited.

Enjoy. Give us a report.

you got it.

Just got back. It was a ton of fun and I was able to talk to current and past Smithies. It was sort of intimidating at first, talking to all of these amazing and intelligent women but it was a great experience. Hopefully I can keep in touch with some of them and maybe score some recs for fall.

Mer, your reaction in some ways matches mine: more than once I've said that the current students I've met...each year...are the best advertising any college could ask for.

It was great, I think they expected me to ask them questions like "What is Northampton like?" and "What was your favorite class", but it really was just about "Okay, tell me the craziest funny story you have." I got some really great responses and hyped me up about the school even more. Of course I was encouraged to reapply for Fall (I was waitlisted) and things like that, but I don't think I've ever been in a room with so many people that I felt I could hang out with instantly. Even the older alums were quarky and super funny.

oh I forgot the best part. I asked a set of Smith alums why Smith is better than MHC (I've never really considered applying there but figured the reaction would be entertaining anyway) and their response was HILARIOUS. One of them was like "ohhhhh noooo." and the other started jumping up and down like "I have a whole list" and they just said really funny things about the school that nearly had me in tears. Once again I want to substantiate how funny all of these women were.

Well, time to get those spring sandwich boards ready. ;)
