I was wondering if anyone could tell me what separates Bates from Bowdoin or Colby? Thanks.

well i dont no alot about colby... but i visited bates and bowdoin in the same week i persoanlly had a much better feeling at bates, the campus was better keep and the people seemed more human to me... the bowdoin campus was nice but it gave me rustic unkeep summer camp feeling in a way... there both really good schools but i think they just attract different types of people.... you should visit the campus's to see which you feel more at home at

Colby gave me a much more "jockey" feeling--the majority of the people I met seemed to be very athletic but very educated as well. The student body did not seem as diverse as Bowdoin and Bates, but obviously you don't see everyone when you visit--but they have very, very, very friendly people.

Bowdoin was great. The student body was very diverse (it was obvious from walking around). The classes were interesting and about 3/4 of the class was prepared on a Friday (Thursday is a pub night, I think). The food was great, everyone was very friendly, and I liked the campus more than Colby's. Yeah, it does remind you of a Maine Summer Camp because of the Pine trees...but I loved it.

Bates was also fantastic. I did not get to spend as much time there but I was impressed with the people I did meet. While taking a self-tour of campus, every single person I passed smiled and said hello.
