Hey Huskies,

First of all, Congratulations on being accepted to the UW! Your next four years are going to be the time you are never going to forget!
I am a current sophomore at UW(intended major CS)! I know you guys would have lots of questions on your mind like majors, housing, food, commuting, classes etc. I can answer them all! If you guys have any personal questions that you want to ask but not to be shared, feel free to PM me!

MODERATOR’S NOTE: Anyone is free to ask or answer questions in this thread.

How do internationals receive their decsions? Is it by email? If, so then when should I expect it?

Both! You’ll get an email first!
Umm, I think it varies on students to students, some people get decisions really early and some can take up to 5 more days. if I remember I got my decision on the 5th day of the decision sending week! So, don’t worry, you’ll get one!

What matters most for international students? SAT scores or extra-curricular activities/essays ? Thank you for your help @forzajuve‌ .

@tahfoun For UW particularly, it’s a holistic decision. Well, if you are an International student, they have kept SAT scores as optional, but if you are still submitting them, that does make your application competitive. But it’s mandatory for everyone to submit his/her essays. So, I would say being an International applicant, your essays would matter a little more than what your SAT scores would.

That’s what I thought, thanks @forzajuve‌ . Hope to receive a positive answer ahh

@forzajuve Usually what is the sat cut off score for international students ? I am pretty nervous as my Sat score is pretty low ! And I have submitted the Sat subject scores too. Will it have an impact? What are my chances? sat:1890 , sat math level 2 : 780 phy : 750 and Chem : 700.

@th3abhi97‌ please read what I said above^

@th3abhi97‌ it’s most likely that you’ll get in, if you haven’t written really poorly on your essays.

@forzajuve The process is confusing me a bit.
CS applicants for College of Engineering get in as undeclared now right? Then in April they get to know if they are a Direct Admit? Is it same for other engineerings too? Or do Other Engineers, say, a chemical engineer. Does he directly get into College of Engineering now or does he need to wait tell April?
Basically What is the difference between a CS applicant and any other Engineering Applicant?

When do the Internationals usuallay get their emails?

@tahfoun‌ please read the second post

@tahfoun‌ International students should be getting decisions sometime this week…hopefully. At least that is what I heard. They said everyone gets a hard copy letter mailed and students with mailing addresses outside the USA will also get an email…

@JANSAT2400‌ hey, I’m not a direct admit in CS. So, I can’t tell you exactly what the difference is. I know a student who was given direct admit into Civil Engineering when he got his admission decision. As of now, I am not sure if a students gets the DA decision for CS at the same time as he/she gets the admission decision. Hope it helps!

Hi! When do we get to find out if we are direct admits to desired major and if we got into the UW Honors Program?

After getting the acceptance envelope what do I do next? I know for sure that I want to go to UW - Seattle haha. I went to the website that the envelope said to go to accept however when I click “I’M IN” it brings me to a page that says:

“Unexpected Error
There are no offered applications on record. Please return to the MyUW home page.”

Does that mean I just need to wait for a day or two before that changes? Thanks in advanced!

Yes, you’ll probably have to wait a day or two for everything to be updated. Congratulations!!

And I believe both DA and Honors decisions will arrive in the mail a couple weeks after official acceptance packets are sent out.

Thank you!

When does the packet with all of the info usually come as the letter I received said that it will come soon. (A week?) Also what is an “I Accept!” form

I think this is pretty self-explanatory. I’m glad you’re excited but come on now haha.
