Considering transferring out of my current four year undergrad college.
What schools do you think I have a shot of getting into?
GPA: 4.0
Major: Undecided, taking a bunch of random classes
Presumed Midterm GPA: 3.8-4.0
High School Stats
GPA: 3.75 (weighted, school doesn’t show unweighted on transcript) – had a horrible start but I’ve been showing an upward trend since freshman year to now
SAT: 1930
Ethnicity: Indian
Extremely dedicated to mock trial in college
Did many ECs in high school
Do a few other ECs in college
Have a job
No internship unfortunately
Wondering if I stand any chance at schools like Upenn, Cornell, Columbia, Georgetown, or Northwestern. What schools do you think I could get into?
@heywassuphello1 Your SAT score is pretty low for those schools, even as a freshman applicant. Additionally, any departments you apply to might have certain requirements (such as courses taken, or number of units taken), and “taking a bunch of random classes” probably won’t help.
You will also need 2 letters of recommendation for UPenn. I haven’t checked requirements for the other schools, but that is your responsibility.
While a 4.0 GPA from College is impressive it also depends on which college you attend. If you attend a top 20 institution (or perhaps another Ivy) then yes a 4.0 will perhaps offset your weak test scroes and GPA but if its not from a reputable college a 4.0 won’t be given much emphasis as your HS stats are subpar.
Also, schools (aside from athletes) value academics reason as their number one choice of accepting a student and its hard to convey your “visions/passions” with an undecided major.
