Prospective transfer, Syracuse for Spring '17 or Fall '17

Hello,

I’m looking to transfer from my CC to a University. I went to visit my friend at Syracuse in August and I absolutely fell in love with the school. I graduated HS in 2014 and I deferred from attending school for a bit due to personal situations/health related problems, but I’m finally back on my feet. I would be transferring into CAS, so I know it’s a lot easier to get into than their schools, like Whitman. I’m just a little nervous I won’t get in based off my scores/grades.

HS GPA: 3.4
SAT: 1570
College GPA: 4.0
I was on my varsity swim team for 6 years and captain for two of them, volunteer work, worked 2-3 jobs in the past and currently working, honor society in HS for foreign language and social studies, etc.

My two friends who go there tell me I have a great chance of getting in as a transfer and know people with lower test scores and GPAs who have been able to get in. I’m just concerned over my HS GPA and SAT because my junior year I had a lot of personal/mental health problems going on which significantly hurt my GPA (dropped from a 94) and my SAT scores since I was prepping for the test. It does show on my transcript that I did bring up my grades my senior year to what they were before my junior year.

Syracuse is currently my top school I’m considering. If I got in, I would definitely go.

My friend said I should set up an interview and explain my situation. Also, to express my interest in attending the school, which will probably better my chances of being accepted.

Any advice/thoughts will be helpful! Thank you!!

Hey did you get in? I’m also a first semester transfer this spring.

Hi @062298 sorry Im just seeing this! haha

But yes!! I got accepted, but unfortunately I had to defer my admissions for the fall due to another problem arising in my life.
