@jadey138 I’m sorry to hear you didn’t get in but don’t loose hope! You have great stats except for your WSA score which is actually great news because that score you can fix If you retake it again! Don’t give up! I was denied from Foster last quarter and UW, and you have a better GPA then me. So I buckled down, worked on my UW essay, and then practiced for the WSA and now got in! I know the feeling of being rejected and it sucks but you have great grades and should honestly try again!! If I didn’t, then I wouldn’t be going to fosters now.
Hey y’all !
I’m wondering should I just accept my transfer to penn state or Colorado boulder until I hear back from UW I’m so conflicted since UW my number one choice!
@JP1993 I am pretty confident that most of us will be hearing back from UW by the end of next week (at the latest)! So if you don’t have to accept the admission offers in the next couple weeks, you might want to hold out for UW to save the money.
and congrats to @ijustwanaknow and all the other Foster admits ! Now if the non-business majors could hear back, that would be awesome :(|)
Curious if it’s just specifically Foster applicants that are notified first, and that there are mainly Foster students that sign up for this forum? Why would UW give this almost preference to you lame business students!!!? (completely kidding but curious)
or
If ALL competitive majors in general are notified first and no one else in here is a competitive major (other than through fosters) so we simply haven’t heard anything but Foster stories. Maybe some of you are competitive majors and I forgot and this is a stupid question.
Good question. I was wondering that myself. I also started wondering if I had mistakenly been lurking in the Foster forum instead of the general applicant forum since all I hear about here is about Foster applicants. I’m a non-competitive humanities major and I haven’t heard back. I don’t understand why there’s this wait. In another couple of days, we will be in the registration period for juniors. I don’t think it’s fair to delay registration for us and have us risk not being able to add the classes we need and want. After all, we are paying the same tuition as everyone else. We should be able to get the same quality and value in our education as everyone else-- including the opportunity to sign up for good classes that we want.
When I talked to an admissions officer a couple weeks ago (this was in person at a transfer fair) she said that those who apply for competitive majors generally hear back later, that the inclusion of December in the notification period was specifically to give competitive departments time to evaluate students, and that people in open majors will probably hear back sooner (she said “in the next couple of weeks” back on Nov 2). Now obviously that explanation doesn’t quite line up with this clear trend of Foster students hearing back first…
My theory on this is simply that Foster goes through their pool of applicants faster than UW general admissions. Foster has to let UW natives know by early November, so by that point they must already know which transfers are getting in and which aren’t. And if you’re in at Foster, you’re automatically in at UW.
In the grand scheme of things, it’s only a difference of a week or two. Right now though it really sucks and I hate UW for putting us all through this. Hahaha.
@qwertyytrewq2 I’ve read that UW sets aside spots in upper-division classes for junior transfers and that there are ways of getting into a closed class, just like there are at CC (eg waitlists, asking the teacher in person to let you in, etc).
I think that you shouldn’t worry about it! UW has been making winter transfers wait this long for years and many graduating classes have survived hahaha.
@qwertyytrewq2
I’m in the same boat of non competitive majors but as they mentioned earlier maybe by next week hopefully !
Good luck!
Thank you @snailshellz
Does anyone know if they have an estimated date of notification for individuals who applied as a regular transfer and not directly into a major?
@socal1212 im on the same boat as you! so i’ll keep u posted. so far my unofficial hasnt loaded. nothing has changed.
Hello! I just called admissions and it seems that open majors do not go through the department. Rather, just general admission. Does general admission send out letters on a later period?
I received my general admission letter yesterday if that helps anyone
If I check the transcript trick and see that error message one more time I might just throw my lap top at the wall. It’s to the point where I’ve seen it so many times I rather see REJECTED than just nothing, the next time I click on it.
Good news I guess, still checking the mail every day for a rejection letter. Nothing yet. So still waiting until late this week and into next week
I got into Foster too!
Congrats to everyone else, and for those still waiting don’t give up hope!
Here are my stats!
Combined GPA 3.85
Pre-application 3.86
WSA Score 4
@dubsup I’m so feeling you. I might punch someone if I keep seeing that error message!!! Trying to be patient, but ugggggghhhhhh!
It’s hard to focus on my studies when I don’t even know which school I’ll be attending in <2 months. Haha.
UW just knows they’re the best and most affordable school for Washingtonians, so they take their sweet freaking time with the apps and give out no clear information or timeline… I mean how hard could it be to send out ONE email like “Hey applicants, just so you know, we’re alive and you should expect your decision by X date”
Tomorrow’s a holiday so since nothing happened tonight, I’m guessing I won’t be getting a notification tomorrow, either.
@jameson992 What image do you see when you check your unoffical transcript online?
@fullmelt did you find out earlier with the unoffical transcript trick? Did it come out as the 500 error before loading?
Also are you a general admission transfer or direct to a program for your major?
I received my UW letter on Monday and my admissions to Foster that same day via email! Good luck to everyone else working on your admissions!! You will hear soon but I know the struggle of “hurry up and wait”, its the hardest friggen part of this entire process!
May or may not die from all this waiting
@Akeating I refresh this page every 10 mins in hope to hear that GA notices have been sent. This is the cruelest thing ever #Dying!!!
