If you guys have been accepted to other schools already and have a deadline to accept them soon - I called UWB and they gave me an extra two week extension, saving me 100$ if I hear back before then, which is way better than my original Nov. 1st deadline!
@dubsup yes that is where I’ve been checking! I’ve only started checking this past week and it has my UWB transcript. If you didn’t apply to any other UW school I think that’s what you get, but I’m not sure sorry!
@snailshellz wow that makes a lot of sense, Thanks!
Yes, I was accepted for the Math BA standard option for winter quarter. Despite the lack of data since Fall 2015 was the very first quarter they’ve actually had admissions, I’d predict that admissions are minimally competitive as they started to require applications just fairly recently. (Anecdote coming) The Math advisors at orientation said admissions would be significantly less competitive than ACMS (50-60% and 3.5 GPA), but maybe they’ll provide you with hard facts during your orientation. The application will be the shortest thing you could imagine: they ask for basic personal info, overall GPA, prerequisite GPA, paragraph on why you’d like to be a Math major (300 CHARACTERS) and how many math courses you’ve withdrawn from and why.
@moonboots I’m not exactly sure what you mean. “freshman” to me means you’re applying directly out of high school. Not too familiar with this process so anyone, feel free to correct me.
What we’re all here for is transfer admission ( college courses taken AFTER HS completion/GED) for Winter 2016.
If you meant you’d be a freshman because you have very few college credits, and you applied between Aug 1-Sept 1 then yeah sure, you’ll be finding out with us as well…
I hope this answers your question.
Okay, I admit it - I’ve started the daily refreshing of my unofficial transcript page. ;))
@Readyandwaiting Thank you for all the info! That puts my mind at ease that it isn’t terribly selective. If I didn’t get into the math major at UW, it would probably break my heart.
@snailshellz if it makes you feel any better, I got accepted to Milgard a week ago and my unofficial transcript still hasn’t changed over to business school. I know that’s Tacoma…but it’s all UW.
Glad to see I’m not the only one trying to load the unofficial transcript twice daily.
What does everyone think my chances are for my Winter 2016 app?
I'm just finishing up my Associate in Science Option 1 Degree, done in December.
3.85 overall GPA (five quarters in)
My worst grade (3.5) was in Calculus II, which is recommended but not required for my major.
Serious classes geared towards UW School of Pharmacy (Microeconomics, Public Speaking, Bio series, Chem series, Microbiology, etc. - even took two quarters of Anatomy)
Have been employed in same job for 12 years (they want to hear work experience). Should show I'm not one to bounce around.
Wrote a good personal statement saying "hi, this is me!" basically (marriage, brief hobbies, life journey, studying to go back to school, going back to school, why I want to go to the UW, etc.)
One issue: I applied for the “B.S. Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology” major, which I know can be a little competitive.
@dubsup Yes, I’m applying straight after graduating from high school, I don’t have any college credits. I just couldn’t start college in the fall for personal reasons. I know this thread is for transfers, but I applied by the September 1st deadline and was just wondering if we all have the same notification period.
@moonboots Unfortunately I’m unware of when the tell back time is for Freshman applications. I didn’t know they admitted for Freshman Winer quarter. This is definitely something you could call and ask! Good luck to you, I hope you get in.
I recently heard that it is harder for out of state transfer students to get in. I am from California applying to the environmental sciences major and I was wondering if anyone could provide some advice on my chances of acceptance?
Accumulative Gpa: 3.8
I have taken 50 credits at another campus (not a community college)
Major Gpa: 3.75
I’m just a little nervous and was just wondering thanks.
@kedillor I would find last years thread, just google something to the effect of “2015 UW winter transfer forum”. I remember there being a few out of state transfers in there.
That should give you some what of a good idea. Unfortunately, it definitely is much more difficult but your GPA is pretty strong. I’d assume your major preparedness would be a very important factor in your admission, so also take that into consideration when comparing to last years forum. I’m glad some people are benefiting from this! The amount of responses and people is definitely starting to pick up.
Good luck to you, happy early halloween as well!
@kedillor Saw some oos applicants get accepted last year, you definitely have a good shot. Hope you had a great reason for wanting to switch and sold it well on your personal statement.
November is near! I can’t wait to see acceptances start rolling in next week.
The unofficial transcript page and the Undergraduate Admission Application info square on my front page won’t load at all. I’m kind of panicking over it right now. We’ll see if its fixed in the morning
So crazy people started finding out on the 5th last year which was a wednesday, so they probably mailed them out on the first monday of november! We’re almost there
I was just on the Udub reddit and saw a thread where OP said he’s starting at UW in the winter. I sent him a PM so we’ll have to hear back from him, but does this mean what I think it does?? Did they already start sending out decisions?
@moonboots doubt it, considering the notification period JUST started. This time last year, no one had heard back from UW yet. Probably just treats UW like a sure thing – perhaps he has great stats.
