I read through the fall 2011 transfer brochure and came across this.

Students with majors in the USC College
of Letters, Arts and Sciences: Please note
that you must complete a minimum of 104
unitsincluding transfer coursesin
academic departments within the College.

If admitted to USC, I would be transferring as a Jr. with roughly 60 units, so taking 104 units at USC would mean that i would need to be there for 3 years + , when I've already completed 2 years. Can anyone clarify this for me?

The residence requirement at USC is 64 units.

If you will read the passage you posted above again, you will see that it contains the words “-including transfer courses-”

That means transfer courses in comparable departments at other colleges are included in the 104 College of Letters, Arts and Sciences total.

The total units needed to graduate at USC is 128 units, so if 60 of your units are accepted for transfer credit, you will need to complete 68 units at USC.

also alamemom, what do you mean by the residence requirement? I am planning to transfer with roughly around 64 but a few of the units I took don’t count for USC credit so obviously those wouldn’t be admitted. I guess if I need to get to 64 transferable USC credits I can do that, but can you explain more please?

The residence requirement is the minimum number of units you must complete at USC. You do not need 64 transferrable units to transfer into USC, you can transfer in with any number of units. Once at USC you must complete at least 64 USC units.
