protecting desktop

I plan on bringing my custom built gaming desktop to college. It’s a small form factor mini-itx build, with the case measuring at approximately 11"x12"x13". It’s small, easily transportable, and contains some really pricey hardware. Also, my monitor is a really pricey 1440p monitor. Should I be worried about the possibility of theft? If so, how should I protect it? I plan on bringing a laptop as well, but since its a cheap chrome book, i’m really not too worried about that.

LoJack for Laptops (can also help with Desktops) and a laptop cable/lock (can also be attached to monitors and desktops) will help.

Also buy insurance.

Honestly I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Many people won’t even know it’s worth anything. If it’s going to be in your dorm all the time, I think it will be just fine. If you’re really worried, go with insurance.

My friends with desktops were fine. It’s pretty hard to steal a desktop out of a residence hall.

No one is going through the time or effort of stealing a desktop. Thieves at colleges take whatever is easiest to just grab and hide.

Most people will wonder why you brought a desktop to college. No one will steal a desktop in a dorm unless you leave your door open everyday and put a note on the computer discussing its cost.
