I love the academics and ra ra attitude on Notre Dame's campus. I am concerned, however that as a Congregationalist Christian, that I will not fit in as well on campus. To what extent is religion important? And, how's the party life?

Some good background reading may be this link in reference to being Jewish at Notre Dame http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=151524 as well as my website which, while focused on transferring here, will tell you a bit about what it is like to be a student here and will give you the basics on the partying and academics http://www.nd.edu/~mnadorff/transfer

Now to the religious question. While ND is 85% Catholic I do have several friends that are not Catholic and honestly I have not heard any complaints. From what I have seen you will in no way be excluded and I do not believe you will be pressured in any way to convert or anything like that. ND is an accepting place, and as long as you are willing to be in the minority, you should be fine. I hope that helps.

I visited campus and had a tour guide who was not Catholic. He said that the student body was very accepting and i believed him when we were constantly being stopped by his friends who wanted to say hi. Notre Dame was great when I visited and I witnessed no one putting anyone else down. but thats just me viewing from the standpoint of an outsider (who hopes to soon be an insider).
