Prove CCers Right/Wrong/Close

Right now, this is only for people who applied RA or under an EA or ED program.

Anyway, post the school(s) you applied to and your decision. Also post the prediction that you got on a chances board if you used the chances boards. Only post one prediction, so if you got 10 yes and 8 no and 9 maybe, post yes.

Here's the Format

College A: Decision/Prediction
College B: Decision/Prediction
College C: Decision/Prediction

I'll prob resurrect this in April.

This may be good for jr/soph/fr that want to know how accurate chances are.

Princeton ED: Deferred/ Rejected

Washington University in St. Louis ED2: Accepted/Accepted

UChicago (EA): Accepted/Rejected
UPenn (ED): Accepted/Rejected

You can ED and EA? What the freak?

As long as you promise to matriculate at your ED you can apply to non-SC EA schools.

Yep. As long as it's not SCEA.
ED=binding
EA=non-binding

MIT (EA): Deferred/Deferred

Arizona: accepted/accepted
Illinois: accepted/accepted

whoa - looks like for the most part, CCers have come close.

I thought all EA was SCEA; I guess I was wrong.

Penn: accepted/accepted

Stanford SCEA: Deferred / Rejected

a year back i posted my stats and asked for CCer's opinions on my chances. I applied to 18 schools (yeah its a lot, but im international and i figured the more darts u throw the greater the probability of hitting the target).. not even one CCer predicted that i would get into even more than 3 of them. the 3 i was predicted to get into were my 3 safeties.

amongst the things i heard
georgetown- "no way"
WashU- "probably not...if yes only because of legacy" (i later found out a brother doesnt count as legacy)
Duke- "forget it"
etc etc

i eventually got into Georgetown, WashU and Duke in addition to 5 other schools.. all with full rides.
im not writing this to boast. im just writing to let u guys know that predictions on CC are wildly inaccurate so dont get down if people "predict" u wont get in etc etc..

im currently at duke and loving it:P
if anyone has questions about duke etc shoot me a pm..id be happy to answer whatever i can..

I'm from Canada and the same thing happened to me (as you can see above). On top of that, I'm sure I would have gotten into at least one of the schools at which I withdrew my apps (due to Penn ED). Nobody here gave me much of a chance either.

I find that it's a lot iffier with int'l candidates--lots of American posters here can't wrap their heads around a B+/A- average actually being very competitive. Not every country just gives away As.

Haha, one poster even called my freshman and soph GPA "pathetic" and said that I can't hide it with claims of tougher grading policies.

Jpps1, are you the guy who had like a C+ average in 8th grade that you posted? PS I don't know why you posted your 8th grade GPA if that was you.

I had a C+ average, but it was 9th grade.

Yeah that was you. I was the one who said it was pathetic. Hahaha. Good luck at Penn. I would suggest you aim for higher than a C+ average.

jpp1, congrats, What was your rank?

9 of 76 in an honours program. Top 6% in school (unweighted).

Thanks for the kind words, andrew.
