I am in University of Connecticut, allied health program and looking to transfer into my junior year at Providence College for pre nursing. 1500 SAT and 2.8 GPA (improving)… what are my chances?
I have no first hand info but given the extreme competitiveness of nursing programs across the country – I think it’s highly doubtful you’d be viable. Plus, since you’re asking such a specific question that likely few ppl know details about, you’re best served by meeting with your own career counseling staff or transfer advisory counselors. Calling up Providence and speaking with an admissions counselor yourself might get you the answer too – but they’ll err on the side of “apply, you never know…”
And that’s not what you want. You want objective advice. Again, a 2.8GPA seems unlikely. For comparison purposes, read this:
http://nursing.msu.edu/bsn%20programs/Traditional%20BSN/Traditional%20BSN%20Admissions.htm
“The average GPA for the cohorts admitted have ranged from 3.52 - 3.79.” You see how competitive it is?
I’ve never heard of a pre-nursing program at Providence college, unless it’s new. They have health policy management, bio, neuroscience, etc…
Providence does not have a nursing program. I do not know anything about pre-nursing I have never heard anyone here talking about that program.
