Im a current student at PC and just got accepted into Northeastern. They seem to be really short on housing for this upcoming fall and it is affecting my decision to attend. Should I stay and be with all my friends and a great weekend vibe? or should I attend a more prestigious university with the possibility of no on-campus housing?
Your reasons for transferring should be academic. Why did you apply to transfer in the first place?
@happymomof1 my reason is solely academic. I want to flourish in a college environment while also receiving a great education. I don’t know if it would be better to finish at the top of my class here or as a transfer student at Northeastern with possibly a lower gpa.
About half or more of Northeastern students live off campus after their second year, and given that most second years are in apartments, the social benefits of on-campus housing are primarily freshman year.
The best social routes for transfers anywhere are likely through academics and clubs/sports/organizations.
Generally, I don’t think anyone will care if you’re the top of your class, and GPA is more of a bar you need to be over than a spectrum - no one will really care about the difference between a 3.8 and 3.6 for example, though they may be looking for a 3.5+ GPA.
It seems you’re looking to do business/finance? Have you been able to do any internships yet at PC? Northeastern’s co-op focus is of course a big part of the school, and that experience I think would cancel out any GPA difference easily. The real question here would seem to be “Do I want to transfer and deal with that socially for better academics?”. That’s a very fair question, and one only you can answer. Good luck!
