So I've been accepted to both these schools and have narrowed it down to either PC or Stonehill. I'm have a hard time deciding which one to choose. I am planning on visiting both before I make my final decision but what do you guys think about each of these colleges? To be honest, I am leaning more towards PC mainly because of the location but at the same time I keep second guessing myself and wondering if Stonehill is the better decision. The academics don't seem too big of a problem because I am undecided and have an idea of what I would consider majoring in at either school. So basically my question is, why do you think I should go to PC rather than Stonehill? What makes it stand out more, to you personally? I'd like to hear you opinions, please and thank you.

I am sure you are aware PC has a compulsory Western Civilization component to the curriculum. Would that be a deciding factor perhaps? My son has also been accepted by both and is still waiting to hear from other colleges.

Well, it’s not the biggest factor I’ll base it on but yes it is something to consider. But yeah I actually feel as if its mostly the student life that I’m more interested in I guess. Like what part of the campus life and surroundings ON campus, does PC provide that’s distinctive compared to Stonehill. Hearing opinions about what people think of either PC or Stonehill always gives good insight.

I am debating between the same schools. I have toured them both once but I am going to go back to them now that I have been accepted. I am also leaning towards Providence.

My daughter loves both but we only have a FA package from Providence (which it leaning on too much, but doable) She loved the close community at both, the strength of the business programs (especailly at PC) the advising for undecided, etc. She liked the look of Stonehill better and the fact that study abroad and 2 wk study abroad trips were very good and aid was included for most. They seemed for a small school to have many scholarships to help students pay for various things. At PC, they will start including aid for study abroad in 2011. PC is closer to shopping, restaurants, etc. but Stonehill seemed to have a campus that you can find a quiet spot or go for a walk in the woods, much more serene. I think the drinking, although toned down at PC , is less at Stonehill if that matters.
They are both good schools, I think the “up and coming” rating that US News gave Stonehill this year is indicitive of rising stats it will have in the future. It dropped when it switched to LAC college section of the ratings, but for it’s size, offers a lot.
I think either school is excellent and wherever you end up, can be happy and successful.

Yeah I agree both schools are excellent. I’m also going to visit both schools again and hopefully that will conclude my problems with which school to choose. Tough decision… we will see.

I was stuck in the same position with Holy Cross as well and I chose PC after I visited. The students were vibrant, as was the campus and the city of Providence. It was a tough choice, but you’ll just know.

beachlover, are u a current PC student or will you be enrolling for Fall 2010?

enrolling for fall '10
