I was accepted to both Holy Cross and Providence. However, I received no money at Holy Cross and would only be paying $40,000 at Providence. I was wondering if the name of Holy Cross is worth paying the extra $20,000.
It seems you have the same issue my D had last year. If you are only paying $40,000 at PC then you must received merit money or got into their LA Honors Program with merit money. My D got into Holy Cross too but received no money. HC was her #1 school (PC was #2) but she received no money (merit and FA) from HC. It’s not worth $20,000 a year/$80,000 four years. She has been at PC for a year and loves it. She made the right choice going to PC. Your question: Is it worth $20,000 a year/$80,000 four years for a little better name? No way, that is a lot money. You can start business with the extra $80,000. Save the money and go to PC.

Holy Cross far superior but no school is worth money you cannot afford.
Go with Providence College. The Dominican teaching is far superior to Jesuit methods. It’s also a fantastic school with incredible athletics and a great community atmosphere. Family has graduated from both.

HC does have stronger academic reputation but at the end of the day it is what you make of your education that counts.
