providence college

My son is a majoring in finance. Which college has the better reputation, Providence, Loyola or Fairfield?

Based on the recently published Bloomberg/Businessweek “Best Undergraduate Business Schools 2013” survey, here are the rankings:

Loyola – MD #53
Loyola Marymount #65
Fairfield #83
Loyola – Chicago #104

Providence was not ranked.

The ranking went up to 124.

Providence recently re-organized their business dept. into a business school. It recently received accreditation, I believe.

Thank you, I am leaning towards Providence.

Providence actually is ranked this year (#109) in the Bloomberg/Businessweek survey after its School of Business received AACSB accreditation this past summer.

Providence’s applicant pool seems to have higher GPA and SAT scores. Any thoughts?

@momterry Are you just talking about the applicant pool for the business school?

No, there is a graph online showing the applicant’s GPA and SAT scores for various colleges and universities.

Business program just received a nice contribution and will be upgrading facilities.

Providence is known as a Liberal Arts college – a friend is also trying to make the same decision—look at the backgrounds of the professors (and count how many are in the department) to learn more about who is teaching–I think the gift the school received is for a new building for the business school, but nothing is there now.
Fairfield’s business program does have a great reputation–I enjoyed touring the school this summer. Bryant has a great business program–also Bentley and Babson. My boyfriend is going to Babson and thought the offered the best of all schools, but his parents wondered if it was “too much business” and not enough liberal arts! Good Luck!
