How is it? What’s there? How does it compare to other college towns?

I know I need to visit, I’d just like to get a feel for the kind of place it is first.

i think it HIGHLY depends on where you are from. I'm from NYC, i think it's a quaint little town, and I rarely leave campus, but I have friends from less urban places that think it's absolutely gorgeous/amazing/beautiful, and like making trips "to see the city"

i LOVE providence- the area around brown is incredible, the city is very cute (it reminds me of a mini boston), its awesome in the summer.

Good to know. I really just need to visit...soon soon...

It is cute. The city is like a miniature-city, sorta fitting for RI. It kinda reminds me of the master bedroom in a dollhouse.

Coming from someone who has lived in suburban Florida, urban Los Angeles, rural Arkansas, Asian jungles, the plains of Oklahoma, et al, Providence is certainly nice. There's enough there to not get bored for a while, but when you do, everything is pretty close.

Boston is like 40 (or so) minutes away, and NYC is about a three-hour drive.
