Provisional Acceptance?

Hello all,

Back in May of this year I began my application process for the Berklee College of Music’s online degree program, and after several months of setbacks and deadlines being pushed back, I finally submitted everything I needed and found out today that I have been provisionally accepted. I’m still waiting on an official letter/email (I found out by checking my application status online), so I did some searching and so far have only found out that a provisional acceptance typically means you have to finish high school with good grades so that your acceptance is not revoked. I graduated high school two years ago with ok grades and decent SAT scores, took one year at college and dropped out, then spent the last year working, so what does a provisional acceptance mean for me?

Thanks in advance for any information,

  • Dan

It means that, unless something amiss appears or you fail to meet a requirement, you’re in. Consider it an engagement ring: you’re not married and as long as you haven’t cheated, but you’ll be married soon!

That’s awesome, thank you! That definitely helps put my mind at ease.

The “provisional” is just lawyer speak. Everyone is admitted under the condition that nothing is amiss. If two weeks into the semester, your transcript comes back as falsified, they kick you of faster than you can blink. Best of luck to you!
