Provisional acceptance????

My son's status is "A provisional decision has been reached. ....... Additional documents are required in order to proceed with the final decision process and correspondence will be (or has been) sent to you listing each document required."

We have yet to receive any correspondence, but I can't imagine what is missing. His SAT scores and both transcripts (2 high schools) have been received. His GPA and SAT scores meet the automatic admission requirements. The only thing missing is his dual credit/community college transcript - but he is still taking the course!

I guess I won't worry, but it seems odd. Any thoughts?????

My current status is:

“An initial review of your application has been completed. Additional documents are required in order to proceed with the application process. Correspondence was sent to you listing each document required.”

and I am very much in the same position as your son. LSU has received all my required high school transcripts, along with my September ACT score. I designated that i would send another SAT along with a College transcript from my dual credit class (Just like your son). I meet the minimum requirements for admission as well, and am curious how to progress in the acceptance process. They sent me an email as the “correspondence” and it said that I still needed to submit transcripts and act scores which i had already completed… so I am not investing much in the “correspondence.”

INOTIES - I talked to a friend whose daughter is at LSU now and she said that her daughter got the same comment. So, she called and was told that the “provisional” meant that the acceptance was not really final until all transcripts had been received (after graduation). I still think that is odd. My older son applied to several universities last year (including many highly ranked schools) and always got a straight “acceptance” - nothing provisional.

I think I’ll call next week just to be sure!

Oh ok very cool! I think i will do the same. Thanks and good luck
