Provisional Admit Question

I applied and was provisionally admitted to CPP’s Computer Science program for Spring '12. I have submitted all of my transcripts and have registered for orientation (but haven’t paid yet). On BroncoDirect it says “Application Complete” but still says “Provisionally Admitted.” How long do you think it will take until they give me an official word of acceptance? I don’t want to pay for all of this stuff they are requesting if they are going to rescind my acceptance. I am concerned because I really messed up my initial community college years. I have since made up most of those grades as well as completed the “golden four” IGETC requirements prior to applying. Any advice on my situation? Do you think they would rescind their offer?

Thanks in advance!

Provisional admit means you’re accepted but you still need some things you have to do before you’re allowed into the school so don’t worry, call them to see what your are missing.

If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your GPA?

Thanks for the response!

The only thing left for me to do on BroncoDirect is to pay for Orientation, which i’m apprehensive about doing with their definition of “provisional admit” including the possibility of my application being rejected and the fees being nonrefundable.

To answer your question, I am transferring with a GPA of 2.9.

No I’m pretty sure provisional admit means you’re already in but there are some things you still need to do such as making payments, submitting transcripts, making sure you finish your remaining classes with a C or higher, etc. You should call them just to be a bit more on the safe side. Congratulations!

Thanks for answering too, I have a 2.8 (nonimpacted major), hope I make it in as well.

You got your notice of admission pretty early, did you apply as a freshmen or live in the service area?

Thanks =)

I suppose I received it early, I thought all of the decisions for spring had been out for some time. I didn’t apply as a freshman and I attended Santa Monica College which I don’t believe is in the service area of CPP.

yeah SMC is not in the service area… I am also applying as a Comp Sci major, but for Fall 2012 so any day now… I have a 2.8 gpa. Just wondering, did you have most of your prereqs done?

@Lindros, I actually applied without having started my college calculus series (and therefore no physics) which I thought would lead to an instant rejection (but I was going to try anyways). Other than that, I have most of the IGETC stuff completed including all of the “golden four” as well as the first two semesters of college Chemistry. Most schools accept those in lieu of the 3 semesters of physics, however, CPP does not so I don’t think it’s going to help me at all.

@ReadyToXfer Im also transferring from SMC to Pomona! Though I am an EE transfer

Did you send in transcripts before you got your status update?

@raindroprose, I sent in my transcripts after receiving an email that I was provisionally admitted. In that email they asked for a $100 ECD deposit and for my transcripts to be sent in by Jan 31st. They actually asked as well if I wanted to move up to Winter session but since I hadn’t completed Speech 1 yet, I couldn’t do it. =/

hey readytoxfer how do you check your admission status? i went on broncodirect and sign in then view my application status but i dont see anything. Also does anyone know of anybody who got admitted into CPP as a transfer without taking speech?

@itzEdward its impossible to get in w/out Speech, its part of the Golden Four rules crap

Well i have been provisionally admitted as a Computer science major as well for fall of 2012. I received an F in my first semester Calculus class. (which is not an A-G requirement because i already have 3 years of math). And i got a D in my AP Civics class. Will they revoke my admission after i send in my final transcript? All other classes are Bs and As.

@Crecinos Are you a FTF? Is your civics class an elective? What were your stats when you applied?
