Hello everyone! I am new to this thread. I just received this in the mail today, and I am in absolute shock! I am OOS (Delaware), so I’m really excited. I didn’t even expect it… Congratulations to everyone who received it :)

Congratulations fellow Provo! (nickname i just made up lol, nothing official :p)

If the winners feel comfortable with the request could they please post their stats and anything else they think may have played a part in the award?

Also congratulations to the winners. My DD loves GA Tech and hopes to apply there this fall. I found it a great school when we visited last year.

Just received my letter for Provost this evening. Nonetheless, I am shocked as well!

@itsv, here is my post from the decision thread. Hopefully it gives you and your D a basic idea. Other than that, there’s not much else I can think of that factored into the award.

So much for getting my ‘good’ sleep tonight lol.

Okay. I’ll be the first stats person, I guess. I got a 1960 SAT (my reading was quite low), and a 29 ACT (I guess this may have offset my dismal Reading score, since that was my highest portion in this). I have a 3.8 GPA. I know my recommendations were exemplary, because I get to know my teachers quite a lot. However, I think it was really my EC’s and essays that set me apart. I wrote about being a twin, and no longer hiding behind my sister’s shadow. I also come from an African background, so many of my characteristics portray my love of helping others and just giving back to the world, since I have seen firsthand where hard work can get you (from my parents). Congratulations “Space Duck”! I applied to MIT as well, but Regular Decision. :)

Oh! And congratulations “nwa757” as well. Sorry, I forgot to add that, haha.

Hi, congrats to everyone, I also received the Provost Scholarship in the mail yesterday…a few clarifications…what does this scholarship cover?

Congratulations to everyone! The website says that the Provost covers the non resident portion of tuition for up to 8 semesters assuming you maintain the required GPA.

It appears my son did not get an offer for the Provost. I’m wondering if anyone has received notice of any other merit scholarships besides the Presidential and Provost? Assuming my son is NMF, he will get a small amount for that but doesn’t really make a dent in the out of state tuition. At their website, they list a lot of other scholarships but we don’t know if people were informed of those at the time of admission or if there is still a hope of being awarded one of those. Does anyone know from past years?

Congrats to your son as a NMF, I’m assuming different scholarships will be awarded to students at different times, because I was not a Presidential Scholar and I was not expecting to receive this in the mail when I did.

So i’ve been hearing two things. One the Provost Scholarship allows you to pay in state tuition, but then what they say on the actual website confuses me. The letter said the scholarship is worth approx. $80,000, does it take care of tuition for OOS students or what?

I think what they mean is that it pays the out of state portion for four years for a total of 80K. This year for instance, the instate tuition is listed as $7938 and the out of state tuition is $26148 so the difference is $18210.

Anyone out there received a merit scholarship other than Presidential or Provost? Thanks.

Did all of you receive email confirmation of this scholarship as well?

I only received an email last Friday, I haven’t received anything in the mail yet @13woodrm
I received my letter today, and I got an email about a week ago. Congrats to everyone else who got it too.
