Hi. I live in SoCal and go to CC here in SoCal. However, my hopes are set in getting into Berkeley. I know that the proximity of your CC to the UC has some weight in whether you get in or not, but just how heavy is the weight? Thanks.

I think this is just a myth.

It'll appear that UCs favor applicants from nearby CCs because the majority of students will want to attend college close to home. In turn, this attracts more applicants which also brings more acceptances.

In any case, I strongly doubt Berkeley will favor someone from Foothill over GCC or PCC. I don't even think that is legal. The only geographic preference UCs have is for in-state students.

I agree with Cardinal.

me too (ten char)

dont worry about it.

Cardinal is right. If Gabe were here, he'd tell you the same thing, but in caps-lock.
