PS & 17 public colleges promise small tuition increases if state doesn't cut funding

<p>Penn State and 17 other publicly-funded universities in PA. have promised the leaders of the State Senate that they will hold tuition increases down to the level of inflation if the Legislature does not accept Governor Corbett's plans to slash their funding. </p>

<p>The State Senate voted with a large majority to eliminate the proposed funding cuts to PA. state universities, but it is unknown what the State House will do. The State House is full of many new conservative members.</p>
