PSA doesn't offer my major

Could I complete my first year under one of the PSA majors and then switch to my major after admission or would I not be able to do this? Or would it be better if I just want to another college and applied to Texas A&M later?

I'm wanting to major in Mechanical Engineering if that matters.

If you want to go to Texas A&M and major in Mechanical Engineering, Texas A&M Galveston is another option. It is not a PSA school. TAMUG is a branch of Texas A&M. You could major in Marine Engineering for 1 year. You must complete 27 credit hours at TAMUG, earned with at least a 2.50 GPA and meet the Change of Major Requirements for the TAMU College and Department you apply to. Then you can request a Change of Curriculum (Change of Major) from TAMUG to TAMU. Below are the URL that provide additional information:

Do you think this would be the best option for me if I wanted to get into Texas A&M?

The9876,

My son is doing exactly what blinkTexas decribes. You can even buy football tickets and attend the games in CS if you like. Seems like a good option!

As a student of A&M Galveston this is the best way to get to college station. If you have any questions message me.

The Change of Curriculium from Galveston to CS has recently changed. They are not going by the standards which are listed on the PDF referenced above. Each students will need to work with their academic advisor at TAMUG and the academic advisor for the major they are wanting at TAMU. It is good to start this conversation with the TAMUG and TAMU academic advisors as soon as you think you are taking this route.
