On second thought, maybe “were to” is necessary: [ENGLISH PAGE - Were To](Were To | ENGLISH PAGE).

“Hari’s previous attempts were FUTILE”

“Quiescent”

Which questions were these?

The CR question about emote was a sentence completion. It was one of the few words not in Direct Hits.

There was nothing in the passage to indicate Hari had many any attempts to seek advancement. By saying the line about requiring effort but luck, it negated this answer and the only one that made sense was B, the severly limited one, since he saw that he had a future after all (if he had tried, then it wouldve been more like “had FOUND his future”).
And even though i put affable, it wasnt the correct answer since munificence actually means generosity…

Here are some confirmed answers:

CR

 1. Somber and Wry
 2. Hari’s previous attempts were FUTILE
 3. Histrionic - therefore emote

SC

 1. Halcyon and onerous
 2. Quiescent
 3. Diligent and punctual
 4. Envelop
 5. Affable
 6. Perfunctory
 7. Disdain or Resentment ???

Wow - most of these words are in Direct Hits

It wasn’t affable…it was munificence. Affable means friendly and munificence means generous. In the sentence, the word “generous” was literally mentioned; hence, munificence is the answer.

Yeah, It was munificence. 100% sure.

What question was involving “queiscent”?

I don’t remember putting quiescent as any of my answers for SC

oh crap really? i always thought munificence was like frugal or something hahaha >< guess not … i just looked it up

also, it was ingenuity right? for the kid who had creative excuses but didn’t show he was sincere?

Quiescent was incorrect – it was another answer choice in the question about Indians. The answer was halcyon/onerous.

^that’s what i thot.

also, it was ingenuity right? for the kid who had creative excuses but didn’t show he was sincere?

Yea, it was ingenuity.

Wow, I got really lucky on that question, it was a totally random guess. Municifence just reminded me of money for some reason. So I put that answer. But I probably got other ones wrong to cancel it out.

^I’m pretty sure it was disdain…damn the CB for making those kind of questions.

Alright…
10char

That was one of the toughest questions on the CR. I put resentment.

Hm, I thought it was resentment. But then again, perhaps I’m wrong. Disdain seems to have a connotation of pretentiousness, while the boys in the kitchen were pretty much in the same situation as uhh… the character whose name I’m forgetting.

However, resentment seems to convey the message better – someone potentially stealing their jobs/food would make the boys in the kitchen feel hostile.

But yeah, just throwing my 2 cents in (:

what was the quiescent question? im pretty sure it wasn’t that…

I’m quite sure the answer is resentment. I have confirmed this answer with about 5 other people outside of college confidential.

well i guess we’ll just find out in december then…

@motivated
yes, quiescent was incorrect. the correct answer was halcyon/onerous
