PSAT and National Merit

I recently got my PSAT scores back and got a 219. I live in Tennessee, and the last 3 years that I have found all say that TN's cut-off scores for National Merit was 213. Is it essentially guaranteed that I will become a Semi-Finalist, or is it possible for the scores to vary 7 points in one direction or the other? (I mean to ask, is this unheard of?)

Thanks (and I hope this was the right forum to put it in)

Hi mxmmstudent: Congratulations on your score! We are also in TN and the cutoff the past few years has hovered around 213. The scores per state can vary 1-2 points per year so with a 219 I think you can feel pretty confident that you’ll advance to NMSF, but you won’t be officially notified until late August or early September. My D is a NMSF this year and we’re waiting to hear within the next week if she’ll be NMF.

Don’t forget to look at Keilexandra’s list of NMF scholarships at: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/national-merit-scholarships/649276-nmf-scholarships-updated-compilation.html
