I received a letter in today's mail from "Presidential Classroom" congratulating me on becoming a "High Achiever" in the College Board Student Search Service.

Does anyone know what, if anything that means? I called up Presidential Classroom and they said it was based on my GPA and my scores on College Board tests.Could this mean I scored in the 95+ percentile?

Has anybody gotten similar letters? I still haven't received any letter from colleges. Any thoughts or ideas would be much appreciated. I'm still waiting in Oregon for my PSAT score.

I wouldn't value this letter too highly, it's essentially spam. Just like colleges can, organizations like Presidential Classroom buy the lists of names from CollegeBoard who are in a certain percentile. What that percentage is, who knows, as it's impossible to say without hard data. However, I've received a bunch of those letters over the last year and was in the 96th percentile of juniors last year on the PSAT.

I don't think Presidential Classroom is that selective.

However, Texas A&M did send my daughter a congratulatory letter and info about their National Merit scholarships before she received her scores and yes, that was a definite indication.
