PSAT Practice Test from the Collegeboard?
I took the PSAT practice test given by the Collegeboard. You know, your counselor gives you the PSAT/NMQT information packet, and there's a practice test in the middle?

I got a 211 on this pratice test. Is the test legit? Or does College Board make this version easier? I dont want to get my hopes up!

Thank you guys!

It is only indicative, there could be significant variations. Taking a test at home as opposed to taking a test in a controlled setting is totally different. There could be questions that throw up off in the actual exam etc.

So, take it as a positive sign and actually do a few practice tests using some review books (you can get them from the library if you want) and then get a better sense where you stand.

I think it depends on how nervous you normally get for big exams. If you’re a laid-back person who isn’t easily stressed, then it should be pretty accurate. Keep studying, though.

I just got a 240 on it. Like, ***. I really hope this is legit, but I doubt it.

The questions are pretty much the same kinds as on the real PSAT, but I don’t remember if there are the same number of questions on the practice as on the real one. If yes, then it should be very similar (though the testing conditions are not)

It is a real PSAT, but from another year.

My daughter took a weekend-long PSAT course just before the test (the timing of this course certainly helped). They took two tests – one on Sat. morning – then went over their results and reviewed the individual sections of the test. The instructor also offered up some test taking tips and feedback to each student (via their first test). They finished the class by taking the test again on Sun. (with final results available as well). This class helped my daughter – her PSAT went up over 30 points when she took the actual test, and she easily cleared the semifinalist cutoff. When you consider the cost of this class (in the $300.00 range) vs. the amount of scholarships that are available to NMFs, (if she ultimately qualifies) we feel this was a good investment. My D also took the PSAT practice test. (take as many practice tests as you can – if nothing else, buy the PSAT book)

BTW – this class helped D with other standardized tests – the test taking tips are basically universal.
