Hi. I got a 196 on the PSAT but it said I was in the 95th percentile. Does that mean I get national merit commended?

Probably not. Last year the commended cutoff was at the high end of the 96th percentile.

For the last few years it was 200.
Actually for my D. it almost didn't matter; she was only invited for a brunch at school where she got a postrcard with congratulation note. That's it.

I'd rather be Commended than not Commended, but it doesnt carry the prestige or financial rewards as NMSF.

Your SAT/ACT scores will carry a lot more weight.
