Did any of you guys get a Columbia email on Dec. 15? Lol, this has become an obsession with me.
I got neither the Stanford nor Columbia letters. My score was lower than 180 last year and I got the TASP. Is the TASP letter just like every other college summer program letter sent to everyone or is it actually based on the scores?
@joeweller I put down mathematics and no I did not.
I got an email from Brown, a letter form the Oxbridge programs and the TASP email and I indicated my major as medicine both years.
I asked three of my friends whose kids were NMFs. They never received the invitation or heard of it. I wonder why??
@camelot39 Did you take the PSAT last year and, if so, how did you do? I got the Oxbridge letter and Brown email as well.
I did take the PSAT last year but I only scored a 170.
Why are these emails sent so randomly? Doesn’t make sense to me.
Quick question. I don’t remember if I put my email in on the PSAT, but since I didn’t get the get the “Getting Ready For Your PSAT/NMQST score” email, I am assuming I didn’t. Will schools have access codes by January 7?
@camelot39 Same, I got 179 though, but… I always make a lot of silly mistakes on the test, even the one we took this year. Can someone predict my score if I got -5 on the W, -19 on CR, and -8-10 on M
The TASP email states that you’re a top scorer in your area. So, it’s like Nat Merit and different locations have different required scores. My son put pre-med as his interest.
@Misty4kiddos , so you mean that you can be NMSF or NMF, but without being one of the top scorers?
Without being one of the top scorers in the area?
<<quick question.="" i="" don’t="" remember="" if="" put="" my="" email="" in="" on="" the="" psat,="" but="" since="" didn’t="" get="" “getting=”" ready="" for="" your="" psat="" nmqst="" score"="" email,="" am="" assuming="" didn’t.="" will="" schools="" have="" access="" codes="" by="" january="" 7?="">>
@givemethtcheese that’s a great question. I think the schools will get the paper copy (with your access code) by the end of Jan. They will see your scores within a day or so of when they are accessible online to the student; however, what I don’t know is whether they would have your access code at that time. Once the scores are released you should either try to logon w/o an access code or contact College Board for additional advice on how to access your scores w/o having to wait for the paper copies because by then it would 3 1/2 months past test day.
@Sincerelove You have to be in the top percentile for your state, not nationally.
TASP says on its website that it reaches out to students who were identified either by high PSAT scores or by teacher nomination. Given that the number of students receiving e-mails would suggest that this round could not only have been sent to those who received teacher nominations, it would appear that it is based on some standardized test score so either the college board has shared some sort of score data or organizations are using last year’s data for their outreach (perhaps for TASP in combination with teacher/school nomination).
I’m fairly certain my teachers have no idea about this organization. My PSAT score was 175 so its not my score either. If it is based on scores, it has to be scores from this year.
Seems like way too much speculation on scores and marketing material from summer programs
Hmm I also received a TASP email and the Stanford letter, but I think someone should call the TASP to clarify if the PSAT scores they said in their email was truly the PSAT scores from this year, and if so, try to ask them what percent of top scorers they send the email out to. I might try to call tomorrow as well.

I also got those emails.
