**PSAT Discussion Thread 2015**

Good luck, everyone-- although the wait may seem agonizing right now, remember that we have another nine months until we truly can understand the significance of our scores for NMF unless you did extraordinarily well (or don’t live in a competitive state) :’)

Question for the class of 2017-- did you choose to take the new or old SAT? Why?

I logged onto my son’s account and there is no mention of the PSAT. On the ACT site the day before, it would at least
show that he had taken the test and was awaiting scores. Is this normal? Trying to figure out if his PSAT is linked to his CB account…

And what time are the scores available online?

has anyone’s school counselors had access to scores yet?

@jjmama – my d’s account says “Your 2015 PSAT/NMSQT and PSAT 8/9 score reports will be available online January 7!” But yesterday it kept going back and forth between that and “You haven’t taken any College Board exams”.

@jjmama dont worry i dont have any ‘progress’ report on my college board account either…
@ayraify I chose to the Old Sat because I felt like it suited my style better (I’m taking it in January for the first time!) the math I felt was a little more easier- New SAT was filled with long wordy problems that required a step-by-step approach, you couldnt really ‘game’ it, reading I would say is about the same level of difficulty, and writing is a little easier on the New Sat- So its an 50/50 decision, if I’m not satified with my Jan score then I will take the New SAT!

My counselor doesn’t have the access codes :frowning:

@gasenioryear my counselor has my scores but I dont want to pester her since i need a good recc, ill just have to wait til tomorrow! Good Luck to Everybody Here !!!

how do you know she has the scores

Does anybody here know of any good New SAT books (in case I have to take it) ?

@purplepuffin

do you assume she has the scores or do you know for sure

@gasenioryear my friend told me that his counselor wouldn’t tell him his scores but had it… idk grassflowers’s counselor didnt have it so I think it depends on the case.

so i guess i am “assuming”

could be the case that counselor’s are telling kids that they dont have it because they dont want kids bothering theim??? idk its just a theory…

My son just texted me and for a second there I thought he’d actually gotten his scores.

Then I read it. He was just letting me know he’d gotten his requested physics EE topic. Cause that required a rare midday text.

@amdcous that certainly questions the validity of the scores that were reported yesterday during the 20 minute “glitch.”

ok. been on phone with CB for over an hour. Access codes sent to counselors. BUT they only have access codes. scores are not released until tomorrow. I was real friendly and chatty with her to try to pump info. Counselors cannot get scores today. My counselor texted me this morning and called CB… she has access codes but cannot see individual score reports.
Then I chatted up with rep and asked her if reps talk about phone calls they get… she said of course. So I told her I would scoop her about yesterdays snafu where scores were released between 2:25 and 2;45. she laughed and said they knew about it and were doing a midday test run to see if scores would load properly and tried to do it before kids got out of school.
GOOD NEWS for those who checked… I told her about 6-8 people on a site I was on got their scores and were all 99% and were these fake test scores. she said NO… they were loading actual scores in system for a test run. So congrats to yall!
I agree with others who are better at math though… my son probably missed 1 ir less in math but does not do as well on reading. However if someone with -7 in math is still in 99 %, but then does better in reading naturally, and reading scores are doubled for NMSF, it seems math people are disadvantaged twice… once because reading scores count more than math, and second because math seems to have a very lenient curve and someone missing 6 more is getting same score.

@gasenioryear Soo…even if we get the access codes from counselors today, we can’t see our scores?

@gasenioryear thanks for the great info
