If it makes you feel better, think of the test having 2 math sections: 1 with a calculator and 1 without a calculator. Then Math and Reading are equally weighted.
I’m going to checkonce at 9 Pacific time and again at 2 pacific time
I don’t know what kind of hat I’m going to need if this goes to 100 pages-last night it was at 70, logged in today and 94 pages! I’m now reading backwards like a lefty…
Titanium hat? Tinfoil just won’t cut it.
@mghyps How exactly does your son get -0 in reading and writing consistently? I’m the exact opposite of your son; I get -3/4 in reading and writing but perfects in math. Has he scored well on the old SAT’s critical reading and writing sections? I’m jealous lol :P.
I’m in Central time.
I got 1470 (710 ERW and 760 math) and 218 for NMS. I should be good for Arkansas, right??
@maryt2017 definitely, Congrats! Do you by any chance remember the number of questions wrong for each section?
What happens if I didn’t put my email on my test document this year? I took the PSAT last year and entered my email. I also received the email about checking scores on the 7th. Do you think my scores will be online?
@maryt2017 Yes – you should be fine. The new PSAT scores are annoyingly deceptive for people who are accustomed old SAT scoring. Your scores are equivalent to 750 verbal and 800 math on the SAT, and your 218 selection index is equivalent to 230 on the old PSAT. In the past, this would be good enough for NMS in any state – certainly in Arkansas.
@maryt2017 PrepScholar predicts that the cutoff in Arkansas will be 194, so your 218 SHOULD be plenty good enough. Having said that, my guess is that PrepScholar’s predictions are way off and that the 2016 cutoff scores will be much closer to last year’s cutoff scores. Just based on anecdotal evidence regarding the ease of the test. But even if I’m right, you are still well above last year’s cutoff score for Arkansas so you should be able to rest easy. Congrats!
The anticipation is killing me.
How did you guys get your scores?
@uofc32 I just got it from my counselor then calculated the index score. I don’t have how many I missed, sorry.
@maryt2017, Congratulations! Did you get TASP email or how did you do last year on PSAT if we may ask? Again, Congrats!
New PSAT Concordance table
https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/pdf/psat-nmsqt-preliminary-concordance-tables-2015.pdf
AHHH… A 1440 is a 213??? That’s the cutoff for Ohio last year on the 2014 PSAT… I wonder if I can make it now… PREPSCHOLAR IS WRONG!!!
I wonder if that concordance table is part of the reason for the score release delay… Thanks @moshot for the link! Super valuable!
So if the cutoff for my state has historically been ~210, does that mean according to that table a 1420 would give me a pretty good chance? Or will the percentiles change due to this being a new test that people may do worse/better on?
@cg2916 Well, remember that this year, the National Merit Selection Index will be used instead of the composite score, so it may vary. However, the Index that comes with a 1420 will probably be very close to the cutoff.
@Joe2015 No TASP email but the email address they had for him was wrong due to his handwriting. They converted a single letter. He did take the PSAT last year. Scored a 190. Last year he got the Stanford summer program mailing. This year he has gotten nothing. But he did switch schools. So maybe that’s the reason? He had a different college board account from his last school and they have a different address.
