What kind of psat scores should one aim for to be accepted into NASS, I know it depends on other things like ec's and class rank but I hear PSAT might be the most imporant of all?

And if you got accepted to NASS, what kind of scores did you get?

I applied to the Summer Seminar and got accepted. My PSAT score was around average (Math- 60, Verbal 59) When I applied to NASS I hadn't taken the SAT yet so my PSAT scores were the only scores I could give. Even though my PSAT scores weren't the best, I had a very high GPA, tons of extra-curriculars and leadership positions, and started in 2 varsity sports my freshman, sophmore and junior year. So in a way my GPA and extra-curriculars made up for my PSAT scores. So to answer your question, and can have a not so great PSAT/SAT score and still get accepted to NASS. Just make sure you take the SAT more than once and you strive for the highest score possible.

You are close on one notion, though. The standardized test scores are very important in the acceptance process. I've been told they receive the heaviest weighting in the whole person scoring. It would seem they are highly necessary, if not fully sufficient.

I was accepted to NASS and my PSAT scores were 540 (critical reading) and 580 (math). My scores are below average. But my high class rank, gpa, athletics, and ec's most likely made up for my poor PSAT scores.

I applied for NASS with a pretty average PSAT score (math- 63 and critical reading- 58) I got accepted. I do though have varsity sports, extra-curriculars (i.e. NHS, Key Club, Latin Club, etc.) leadership positions and a job. GPA really average although my class is really competitive so averageclass rank too. My extra-curriculars and Advanced courses made up for a lot of it though. I can't wait to attend this summer.

I got accepted with a critical reading of 63, math of 68, and writing of 65. I also had a high GPA, high class rank, and tons of extracurricals, leadership programs, and athletics.

From what I here, NASS is really a roll of the dice and semi based on your geographic location.

I got accepted to NASS with horrible scores.
PSAT was 46 CR, 70 M, and 46 for W. the reason I got in, I think its because of my EC, and maybe because I live overseas--diversity??
but I'm not going to NASS, since I was not allowed by my family
