PSAT National Hispanic Scholar Cutoff Predictions 2015******

Hello!

For you Hispanic test takers, we’ve probably all been wondering what the cutoff for this year is going to be. It’s obviously going to be lower than the Semifinalists (good for us!). If anyone has any score predictions, please comment. For comparison, my score this year was 1300, with an SI of 197, and 96 percentile.

Please post the link to the score cutoffs for 2015 if you can. I am not having much luck with my BFF Google. Thanks and good luck to everyone…we have one more year to prepare for daughter2.

Depends on where you live. From http://www.collegeplanningsimplified.com/NationalMerit.html, it looks like National Hispanic Scholar is regionally given. In 2014, the cutoffs ranged from 182 to 199.

Wow this is great, I didn’t even realize College Board had this. Will a 1370, 206 score be good enough?

CB has changed the date for releasing this information too. At first it said invitations to apply will go out January 29th, then it said January or February, now it says February or March.

I’d like to know if the application asks you to list a first choice school. My D hasn’t started looking at schools yet, especially not NMF scholarship schools. I want to know if she needs to start so that she will be able to complete the application whenever CB is ready to invite us.

I just called the NHRP and for Texas, in the southwest region, last year was 182 and this year it is 191

193 for West
204 for South

What is the explanation when predictions were to lower?

I just clicked the “apply online” box found here:

https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/psat-nmsqt-psat-10/scholarships-and-recognition/national-hispanic-recognition-program

And the message is:

Please check back at this site on or after March 10 for the Class of 2017 program guidelines and electronic application.

CB does it again - doesn’t meet its own guidelines.

@nw2this Those are the official cutoffs they gave you for the NHS Class of 2017 program?

Is there a thread like this for African Americans?

There is no longer a separate PSAT score award for African-Americans. The National Achievement program was discontinued.

@suzyQ7

Yes, those are official for hs class of 2017. You can e-mail NHRP@scholarshipamerica.org or call 866-545-8467 to get the official cut-offs.

Anybody know about New England, Mid-Atlantic, or Mid-West? I am curious to know if the South is still the highest as it has been in previous years.

Can you be a National Hispanic Scholar and a National Merit Scholar?

Yes, but your high school has to support you on both. National Hispanic Scholars are processed by the Collegeboard; National Merit Semifinalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Ok, thanks!

Called and wrote to NHRP to determine what score to use for Department of Defense schools overseas. Anyone have any info or experience to share?

Has anyone received their NHRP invitation number? If so, did you receive it by email, mail or GC?

@DoDEAMom18 Did you get a reply from NHRP? They replied to my email for the cut off score within 1 business day. I haven’t had success getting through by phone. Maybe high volume now that the application is live.

@paveyourpath

My D didn’t get anything, but the application is open. Did they say they would e-mail students today or just that the application would open today?

They said the application would open 3/10 and when my son went to complete it he needed the invitation code. I read online somewhere that the codes would start being sent out on 3/10 but can’t remember where I read it. He didn’t get the email yet and nothing in the mail although it is possible they sent a letter to the GC with his code.
