Thanks everyone, very helpful information!
While their statement says it’s based on the state from which you will access your scores, that’s not something the College Board would actually know - they make an assumption based on where you took the test, and your registration information.
@CTScoutmom if it works the same as AP score releases they use IP address which is based on location.
@ctscrapgal snowfairy137 is correct.
So in that case couldn’t you just use a VPN to mask your location and get scores on an earlier date?
@clancularius yes and many do;-) For those less tech savy people, they give log on info to friends or relitives in different states.
Apparently the whole portal will be blocked for those states where scores are not released - so it’s not really an issue that the scores aren’t released, but that the portal can’t be accessed. The scores will be available to educators on December 4th, so it’s possible to get them that early if someone with access to the educators’ portal is willing to look for you.
hi! i took this test october 11 as a junior, and i get my scores on december 13. i was wondering, when do we find out if we are a semifinalist/commended student/etc? is that included with the scores or do we have to wait until next september?
The announcements are made with SI cut offs for each state in Sept. That being said, you can get an idea of where you stand based on last year’s cut offs.
So you’ll get your raw score (out of 1520) and your Selection Index Score (out of 228) on December 13. However, you won’t know if your selection index scores are high enough to be placed in the top 1% of your State till September 2018. It’s a long journey but at least you’ll known your raw pretty soon and where you stand amongst last year’s candidates!
Does anyone have information about how the November SAT would correlate to October’s PSAT. Using the formula of dividing the two sections by 10 and doubling the EBRW and adding together, my daughters SAT would correlate to a PSAT that would certainly qualify in our state. But I wonder if you can correlate the PSAT score to your SAT in that way.
The SAT is out of 1600 and the selection index score would be 240. Poster#89 pointed out the selection index score for the PSAT would be 228 since it s out of 1520
@BertieMom The PSAT and SAT scores are directly relatable without any arithmetic (no need to fiddle with the selection index), so that if a person took the PSAT and the SAT on the same day, in theory the score would be the same (say, for example, both would be 1300). Growth is assumed to occur between the time the PSAT is taken and the time the SAT is taken, so that students taking the SAT in the junior spring or the senior fall would see an increase over their PSAT score from fall of junior year. The PSAT just has a lower ceiling. (I think that’s dumb.)
I guess we’ll find out how well that same-score business really works.
Scores are being released in batches based on region, Dec 11, 12 or 13. There is a map at CB.
If you got a 1300 you wouldn’t qualify though
@BertieMom PSAT score is also reported out of 1520. One can use it as an estimate of the SAT score out of 1600.
Scores are out; you can check now.
@Alumon Where are you located? I just checked and it said scores will be available Dec 11-13!
I got a 221 SI and am in NY. Right on the cutoff and very anxious!
@3scoutsmom i think that poster meant for nov sat
No, you can access like this.
Enter the CB website and log in. Click on PSAT Scores. After the site loads, the URL should end with viewscore. Add a /details right after it and press Enter. The site will reload and then you can download the report and access scores. Enjoy!
