Hi, I am a student from New York, who was selected as a semifinalist this year for the PSAT. I got a 233. However, I got a 2240 on the SAT. (I did better on my ACTs but obviously that does not matter). Does this endanger the chance that I will receive the scholarship? My actitvies/counselor rec/essay are all pretty good. I just don't want to be denied the $2500 merit scholarship, so I will retake the test if need be...

I am probably being paranoid, but 2240 (or 224 is suprisingly close to the NY cutoff).

The confirming score is much lower than the qualifying score. You should be fine. I can’t recall the details but if you look in the National Merit forum you may be able to find some info. But don’t get C’s.

The confirming score (converted to PSAT) is still higher than the cutoff score. You should be fine. I guess they just want to make sure that you shouldn’t get a 240 on the PSAT and a 1800 on the SAT.

The confirmation score for NMF is something like a 2000 on the SAT. Good job. Make sure you look at some schools that provide full tuition to NMFs, too.
