1 which of the following best expresses the claim that Dinesen was a "great mythmaker" (line 7)?
E Dinesen constructed a public identity as carefully as she constructed her stories

2 The parenthetical phrase in line 17 serves to
B emphasize that Dinesen's life is not easily distinguished from the myth

3 The allusion to the phoenix in line 27 suggest that
D Dinesen was regenerated after a profound disappointment and became a successful artist

4 The reference to what "people on the farm" called Dinesen supports the clame that
C Dinesen achieved nearly mythical status among her neighbors in Kenya (i dont remember this one...)

5 In line 33, "exercise" most nearly means
D Use

6 The comments of the Danish admirer in lines 36-38 "She knows ...art" make which assumption about the nature of art?
D The artist transmutes pain and suffering into art

7 The fourth paragraph (39-50) is unique in the passage in that it
C is critical of Dinesen's character

8 The comment in lines 49-50 ("She ...category") implies that
C Dinesen's behavior cannot be evaluated in absolute moral terms

9 Which of the following best contrasts the descriptions of Dinesen in Kenya (lines 30-33) and in Denmark (lines 39-50)
C An awe-inspiring figure versus a contradictory individual

psh i left the c,d,e,f, one blank..how about the one where the train is 200m long and it travels at 20m/s or something like that and it takes the train 1 min and 10 sec to get through the tunnel? I put 1,400 but some people say it's 1,200 because 1min, 10s is converted to 70 sec and you multiply that by the 20m/s the train travels at, which yields 1,400, but the train overlaps while in the tunnel, you have to subtract 200m to cover the overlapping...I DUNNO i'm so confused. what did you guys put?

its 1200
heres the reason:
d = rt
d - 200 = (20)(70)
d = 1200

the reason u subtract 200 is because the time is from the time the front of the train enters, until the BACK of the train leaves. this is an extra however long the train is. you're trying to find the distance of the tunnel, and this adds 200 to it. you therefore need to subtract 200, giving you 1200

It's 1200...

The end of the train is, initially, 200 m from the entrance of the tunnel. The tunnel's length can be represented by a variable x. Therefore, the total distance that needs to be traveled is 200 + x. Plug that into d=rt (r=20, t=70 seconds) and solve for x.
