PSAT Prep Advice Wanted

Hello, I am seeking advice on how to help my sophomore son prepare for the PSAT next fall.

Thank you in advance.

Check out the stickies or the “IMPORTANT” posts on the SAT Preparation on this site.

If you still need help, feel free to post here again. :)

Study SAT for PSAT. Do as many practice tests as you can. And take SAT on October, which is 2 weeks before October PSAT. This way you will be sure READY for an excellent PSAT score. My son did this way and he got 226 on his PSAT , 2270 on his SAT. Practice is the Key.

I agree with jlin3513. The only thing my son did differently was to take the PSAT first and then he took the November SAT, which was 2 weeks or so later…

Agree with those who suggest studying for and taking SAT fall of Jr year, if hoping to score well on PSAT. One advantage of the Oct SAT test date is that you can pay for the Question & Answer service from College Board. (I think that is the name of the service.) CB will send a blank copy of the actual Oct test your student sat for as well as a print-out of his answers, what the correct answer was, and the difficulty rating of the question.

The PSAT provides this information also, but QAS is only available for the Oct, Jan & May SAT test dates. The QAS arrived eight weeks after my son took the Oct test date, so it would only be useful in studying for Jan or later exams.
